Yael Valerie Perez
I am a PhD Candidate in Architecture at UC Berkeley specializing in Design Theories and Methods.
I hold a B.Arch and M.Sc. from the Faculty of Architecture and Town Planning in the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology. My Master thesis deals with low energy building design and in particular how to reduce energy use in school buildings in the hot humid climate. I worked for few years in Architectural firms in Israel as well as a freelance architect while living in Northern India for 3 years. I learned about the local techniques of earth construction in north India and followed the design and construction of several earth houses. My current research interests include how technology can be used to bridge the cultural gap between designers and the site to enhance place-sensitive-architecture.
